GMA’s “Voltes V: Legacy” teaser unveiled
Television network GMA–known for its successful genre series such as Mulawin, Encantadia, Darna, and Captain Barbell–has unveiled on New Year’s Eve its latest ambitious venture: Voltes V: Legacy.
TV director Mark Reyes, most known for his work on Encantadia and its 2016 reboot, revealed his involvement on social media as he teased the teaser (yes, teasers have their own teasers these days) on his own Instagram account.
Voltes V, created by Saburo Yatsude and directed by Tadao Nagahama, was an anime series that originally aired in Japan in the late 70s, eventually being shown on local TV via GMA soon after. However its Philippine airing was cut short by the Marcos administration, citing concerns of “excessive violence” on TV. The entire series was eventually aired on television in the aftermath of the 1986 EDSA Revolution.
Voltes V Legacy is the first time the show will be given the live-action treatment, and will air sometime in 2020.
